Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill Blog Mini Spills – Barataria Bay

THIBODAUX — A barge struck an abandoned well just north of Barataria Bay early this morning, causing oil and natural gas to shoot 100 feet skyward, the U.S. Coast Guard said.

Oil and natural gas from the well, which is owned by Houston-based Cedyco Corp., spread for a mile across the water, as the Coast Guard and private contractors worked to contain the flow and shut the well off.  read more…Full Story by Daily Comet

As of this update the well has been capped and clean up is in progress.
